Beginning near the beginning: It’s hard to understand the video and photography tools we use today without understanding where they came from. Perhaps Thomas Edison comes to mind, but can you name all his inventions? Here's a hint, he was alive from 1847 - 1931.

A zoetrope or praxinoscope is really just a short, 12-frame animation, that repeats over and over and over again. This might remind some of you of modern-day gif files.
