An exchange sequence is a series of shots or actions between two or more characters in a story in which the two characters exchange a physical object.
Take a look at both of these advanced sample videos to get an idea of the project:
Steps to Get There:Discuss a possible physical exchange (ranging from basic to advanced) between two characters. Keep in mind that most advanced exchanges often involve only the simplest ideas. For example, reference the notes passed back and forth or the stolen purse returned in the clips above. Important Decisions:
Angle of ViewExercise: To get a sense of Angle of View, take a camera and position a subject in front of an appealing background. Choose your position in front of the subject and plant your feet, locking them in place. Do not move!
Depth of FieldExercise: Use only a camera in class with one of the new 50mm f1.8 lenses, position TWO subjects with one directly in front of the other. Choose your position and plant your feet, locking them in place. Do not move!
Camera MovementExercise: Use a camera and position a subject in front of an appealing background. Design the camera perspective and angle. Because we do not have the technology to dolly, truck, or pedestal, you will need to practice camera moves with panning and tilting on a tripod.
